The 5th annual Walk-A-Thon was a great celebration for Thomas House. Nearly 400 participants enjoyed a picture perfect day at Mile Square Park. They enjoyed a brisk walk around the lake, lots of snacks, a picnic lunch, dozens of raffle prizes, and 4 clowns who entertained the crowd and painted children's faces.
Several Kiwanis Key Clubs from local high schools, the Holy Spirit Church Youth Group, and the Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove brought much enthusiasm to the dayís activities.
Special certificates were awarded to Presenting Sponsors of the event: The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, the Garden Grove Firefighters local 2005, The Law Offices of John L. Michels, and Sam's Club in Stanton.
Fountain Valley Mayor John Collins, Executive Director Sister Kathy Stein, Development Director Charlotte Governale, Walk-A-Thon Chairperson Mark Michels and members of the Thomas House Temporary Shelter's Board of Directors, welcomed everyone and thanked them for supporting Thomas House.
For most participants, the highlight of the day was simply the opportunity to share some time with other friends and families who love Thomas House.
Thanks to all the sponsors and participants for caring about our
families. It is because of your support we were able to raise $20,000!
CONGRATULATIONS!
"I just want to extend our appreciation for all the needs that you meet for us on a daily basis. You have assisted my family in helping us to get stable and to reach our daily goals, not to mention enabling us to have a bigger and brighter future. I could never thank you enough. ”
